ride 2 Richmond, affectionately known as r2R, began humbly on September 15, 2017. What started as a small adventure with just five riders has grown into a beloved annual tradition.
Since that inaugural ride, VietVelo has proudly hosted r2R every year, bringing together cycling enthusiasts of all levels for a challenging and fun journey to Richmond. Each ride has built on the spirit of camaraderie, adventure, and the joy of cycling.

2026 marks a major milestone for R2R. This year, we are thrilled to officially designate Ride 2 Richmond as our annual signature event. To enhance the rider experience, we are introducing a charter bus shuttle and dedicated bike transport to bring participants and their bikes back comfortably and safely. This expansion solves the logistical challenges we’ve faced each year and opens the ride to more riders than ever before.
R2R 2026 offers two groups to accommodate different pacing preferences: Group A (21–23 mph) and Group B (18–20 mph). Each group will be supported by a dedicated SAG vehicle providing mechanical and on-road assistance throughout the ride.
This year, we can accommodate only 55 riders, so spots are limited. Registration is $30 for VietVelo members and $40 for non-members. Riders who do not require shuttle transportation for themselves or their bikes on the return trip may participate in the ride free of charge.
